What’s on this Easter at Hull Truck Theatre

Are you ready to have an egg-stra special Easter? Hull Truck Theatre present an egg-citing variety of work this April.

From family interactive fun and games to comedians and music celebrations, not forgetting another programme of drama on stage and a selection of film screenings. This Spring, come together for a good laugh and a reason to share joyful experiences with each other. 

Luke Dankoff, Producer & Programmer at Hull Truck Theatre, said: “Our programme across April is a great example of the good night out that we try and provide at Hull Truck Theatre. We have great comedy from the likes of Jen Brister and Jessica Fostekew. We have high-quality drama with the return of Teechers from the John Godber Company as well as family-fun with Amazing Animals and Wifi Wars! There really is something for everyone to enjoy.”

Kids off school and in need of entertainment? Join the Easter Play in a Week programme where any young person aged 7-11 can get involved to create a brand-new play. At the end of the week, they will get to perform it to friends and family. The project takes place Tuesday 7th – Friday 10th April 2026, 9am – 3.30pm every day at Hull Truck Theatre. There are now limited spaces available so don’t hang around. For 5-7 years, there is also an Easter Theatre Day (Thursday 9 April) where children can learn to create their very own short play, taking part in fun activities, as well as creating an original performance, culminating in a special sharing for parents.

Join a variety of family silliness, hilarious improvisations and events to play along to throughout the holidays and into Spring with a range of entertainment for all ages. Mr West demonstrates the fundamental principles of scientific enquiry, exploring everything from supersonic speediness to malicious misinformation in Crafty Fools: Adventures in Science (Thursday 2 April). 

Wifi Wars Easter Special (Tuesday 7 April), hosted by comedian Steve McNeil returns with the live comedy game show where you can log into your own smartphone or tablet to compete in a range of games, puzzles and quizzes to win the show, prizes! TimeFort: On Stage (Wednesday 8 April) based on games made by Goodwin Development Trust for Humber Field Archaeology and Hull Maritime will bring History to your doorstep.

Are you a fan of the hit global TV series, The Traitors? If so, you will be right at home with the family friendly version of The Night of the Werewolves (Saturday 11 April), an interactive comedy horror show, where you the audience members determine who among you in a werewolf…hopefully.

The heart-warming show Amazing Animals (Saturday 18 April) is back, celebrating all creatures great and small. Book your family in and come and have a roarsome time.

If an enchanting musical is the adventure, ySJ Arts Productions will present the much-loved story The Wizard of Oz (Sat 25 April) Starring their junior cast, enjoy this short musical with the essence of the story, heart, innocence and magic.

Hull Truck Theatre has comedy shows that will make the perfect night out with the pals. Back by popular demand, Jen Brister: Reactive (Thursday 9 – Friday 10 Aril) will present a brand new show, this year she is trying to be more zen but with frustrated by the state of the world and by people in general, it seems unlikely…join Jen for a hilarious night of pure honesty as she responds to those who tell her to just chill the hell out.

Jessica Fostekew is also back with her new show Iconic Breath (Friday 17 April) where she also feels like she is becoming an emotional wildebeest. Come and enjoy some of the silliest of comedy for the scariest of days from Edinburgh Best Show Award Nominee.

And that’s not all, another show that’s more fun than a barrel of hobbits is Parody of the Rings (Thursday 16 April). Get ready for a hilarious and epic adventure and an uproarious evening of comedy as the entire three-film saga of The Lord of the Rings trilogy is improvised in just over an hour.

Take part in some fast-paced feel-good fun with Right Here Right Now (Saturday 18 April) with a guaranteed evening of mayhem as your ideas, mixed with their merry band of improvisers turn them into chaotic comedy using witty games, and gags to bring side-splitting stories to life.

Audiences looking for a live music experience can expect high-impact visuals and formidable musicians from Paradise Found – A Dedication to the Legend of Meat Loaf (Wednesday 1 April) as they blaze through greatest hits outa hell & legendary singalong anthems. 

Radio GaGa: The Ultimate Tribute to Queen (Wednesday 15 April) will play all your favourite hits including, Don’t Stop me now, I Want to Break Free, Somebody to Love, Another one bites the Dust, We Are The Champions, We Will Rock You and of course Bohemian Rhapsody.

Teechers (Tuesday 21 – Thursday 30 April) bringing drama to the forefront as Godber’s hilarious comedy masterpiece has been reset for our post Covid times. A funny, fast moving, multi role play that bristles with teenage swagger and outlandish imagination. John Godber OBE, Playwright on Teechers, said: “It is always dangerous to mend something that isn’t broken, but I felt that to make the play feel more relevant to today’s audiences, and especially young audiences it deserved a re-boot. It was the influential director theatre director Peter Brook who said, theatre that stands above fashion is dead theatre! Fashion has certainly changed in the last forty years.”

Sheila’s Island (Tuesday 21 – Wednesday 22 April), another drama, is a dark comic exploration of friendship, failure, and what happens when your forced to face the wild. This amateur production is presented by Concord Theatricals Ltd.

Brought to you by the critically acclaimed team at proforca Theatre Company in Association with Greenwich Theatre, Flashbang (Thursday 30 April) will take audiences on a rollercoaster ride through the ties that bind five best mates together and what happens to those friends when that world is blown apart.

Hull Independent Cinema will present two dramatic features: If I Had Legs I’d Kick You (15) (Tuesday 7 April), an electrifying drama, starring Rose Byrne. Linda’s life is crashing down around her, but her therapist is being increasingly hostile in this sharply funny and deeply resonant film.

Secondly, Plainclothes (15) (Friday 24 April) explores hidden desires, and a story of forbidden love while addressing themes of state surveillance and societal intolerance in a psychological drama starring Russell Tovey and Tom Blyth who meet under complicated circumstances.

Exhibition on Screen: Turner & Constable (Thursday 2 April) will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the births of two of Britains greatest painters, J.M.W Turner and John Constable. Discover unexpected sides to both artists with intimate views of sketchbooks and personal items and insights from leading experts on screen.

Finally, don’t miss the chance to see the five star NT Live production, All My Sons on screen. The triumphantly acclaimed new production of Arthur Miller’s classic play is directed by Ivo Van Hove (A View from the Bridge).
