Christopher Tansey was born in Kingston Upon Hull in 1970. He studied Fine Art at Liverpool John Moores University. He currently lives and works in East Yorkshire.

Christopher’s most recent exhibitions include ‘PAINT’ at PS Mirabel Manchester, ‘Black and White’ at Pineapple Black Arts, Middlesbrough, ‘A Little Painting Show’ in Leeds and the upcoming BEEP 2020 exhibition and ‘Enough is Definitely Enough’ at Pineapple Black Arts.

Christopher’s work is semi auto-biographical and self-reflective, drawing on existence, memory, experience, person and place to inform his visual language and express largely emotional responses through the use of vaguely representational elements and motifs. Life is material for his work and he paints to remind himself.

Another primary theme/concern for Christopher is exploring the ‘Isness’ and ‘Whyness’ of painting and paintings, and trying to make sense of and explore the act of painting itself and what a painting is. The search for meaning is very much part of the creative process for him.

The exhibition opens Tuesday 22 September – Saturday 31 October 2020 at Artlink gallery, 87 Princes Avenue, Hull, HU5 3HS. The preview will be from 5-8 PM on 22 September. Following the launch, opening hours will be Thursday – Saturday 10AM – 5PM.

In compliance with regulations and to keep visitors safe, six people (including staff) will be allowed in the gallery space at one time. No booking is necessary. Masks are kindly required.

Additional Events: Christopher Tansey will be on site for a second viewing event on Saturday, 10 October from 11-2.
