A new pop-up Winter Wellness Hub is launching at North Point Shopping Centre from 27 to 29 October, offering free childhood flu vaccines, interactive health education, and winter wellness giveaways to help the local community stay healthy this winter.
Organised by NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) in partnership with Vaccinations UK, the hub invites everyone to “Say Boo to Flu” by learning more about staying well during winter and where to go if you need support or care.
There will also be an opportunity to explore the interactive ‘Germ Lab’- a hands-on experiment designed to promote hand hygiene; and pick up a Winter Wellness pack full of helpful seasonal health items.
What’s more, children aged 2-16 years can get their flu vaccine on site at their convenience.
Dr James Crick, Clinical Director of Prevention at Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, said:
“On 2 January this year, over 300 people were seriously ill with flu in our local hospitals — that’s the equivalent of 10 full wards. It’s a stark reminder that flu is not just a seasonal inconvenience; it’s a serious illness that can put immense pressure on our NHS and affect the most vulnerable in our communities.
“As we head into winter, it’s vital that everyone takes simple steps to protect themselves and others. Getting your flu vaccine is quick, free for many, and one of the most effective ways to stay well.
“We’re encouraging everyone to be winter-ready: keep essential medicines at home, check in on vulnerable neighbours, and make sure you know which local health services to turn to if you start feeling unwell.”

“We want to make winter wellness accessible, engaging, and practical for everyone in our community. This hub is about prevention, education, and a little bit of fun — it’s the perfect way to say ‘Boo’ to flu this season.”
The initiative is timed to coincide with October half term, making it ideal for families and individuals looking to stay proactive about their health over the winter months and beyond.
