Yorkshire Wolds poultry business wins two local business awards

The team at an East Yorkshire poultry business is celebrating after winning two categories of a regional business award that celebrates excellence, innovation, and outstanding achievements in the business community.

Middleton on the Wolds business, Soanes Poultry, won both the Large Business of the Year and the Environmental and Sustainability categories of the Hull & East Yorkshire Business Awards which took place last week.

Soanes Poultry’s MD, Ben Lee was delighted to win the awards: “At the end of a very challenging week, and as we head towards our busiest time of the year, winning the awards was a real tonic and a testament to the hard work of our team.

“We have invested significantly in a solar array to power the factory and in a new refrigeration system to reduce our carbon footprint, so we were delighted to add the Hull & East Yorkshire Business Awards Environmental and Sustainability Award to the Deliciouslyorkshire Sustainable Product award we won for our chicken last month.”

Soanes Poultry beat Integra Buildings Ltd and Spencer Group to win the Large Business of the Year, and Ashcourt Group and Premier Modular for the Environmental and Sustainability Award.

Soanes has been rearing and preparing chicken since 1947. It sells its Yorkshire-reared chicken to butchers and independent retailers throughout Yorkshire, and to wholesalers and catering butchers nationwide.
