As the days get longer and the weather warms up, Hull Truck Theatre is delighted to present an exciting mix of entertainment this June, with an eclectic line-up of live performances, comedy, family favourites and community events.

From big-name comedians and acclaimed theatre productions to free activities and behind-the-scenes experiences, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this month. From the start of both Pride Season and Grow Festival to Family Open Day, the theatre will be a hive of creativity!
June marks the start of Pride Month in the UK and this year’s Pride Season at Hull Truck Theatre will celebrate the work of LGBTQ+ people with a variety of new writing, comedy, drag, film and musical numbers. From Edinburgh Fringe favourites The Fit Prince (Thurs 11 June) and Diana: The Untold and True Story (Friday 12 & Saturday 13 June) to queer thriller Smoke (Thursday 4 June) and musical mayhem in a gunpowder plot inspired riot Remember, Remember (Thursday 18 June) – there’s something for everyone to celebrate love and joy! Also, not forgetting the hilarious exploration of corporate feminism with Dyke Systems (Saturday 20 June) and HIC’s Internationally Queer film screening (Wednesday 17 June) where the audience is responsible for choosing the film screened – title to be announced soon! Presented as part of Hull Truck Theatre’s Grow Festival 2026, the theatre’s annual artist development season, Ballgames (Friday 19 June) is a new play by Aidan Thompson-Coates. Exploring masculinity, morals, faith, and having the balls to do the right thing. Be the first to see this new work in progress sharing which kicks off Grow season in style!
For lovers of comedy, join Seann Walsh (Wednesday 3 June) for a brand-new hour of side-splitting comedy in This is Torture. Be prepared to be left in stitches with laughter after watching this cracking good show. From one stand up to another…Mark Simmons: Jest to Impress (Wednesday 10 June) is a show packed with even more expertly crafted one-liners, alongside his trademark off-the-cuff jokes based on random audience suggestions.
With his camp charm and unforgettable catchphrases, Larry Grayson, stand-up comic, game show host and national treasure lit up millions of living rooms, drawing over 20 million viewers at the peak of The Generation Game. But behind the laughter was a man shaped by love, loss and the courage to be himself. Shut That Door (Wednesday 10 – Saturday 13 June) brings a sensitive, humorous and thought-provoking play that reveals the private story behind the public persona, charting a journey of friendship, resilience and a longing to belong.
For comedy-drama fans we have a real treat as Royal Court Liverpool have partnered with Birds of Paradise to produce a brand-new play called Cured (Wednesday 24 – Saturday 27 June). Join four young pilgrims as they take on nonsense rules, embarrassing exes, and the big question nobody ever asks: do disabled people want to be fixed, or are we sound as we are, ta? Don’t miss this brand-new play by local writer and comedian Laurence Clark.

For families, Hull Truck Theatre’s Family Open Day is back! Join the team on Saturday 13 June from 11am – 3pm for a day of fun-filled day full of free activities. From back-stage tours, to arts and crafts and drama and technical theatre workshops, plus a chance to try out a variety of costumes and musical instruments. Presented in partnership with Albermarle Music Centre.
If you are looking for even more family entertainment in June, then look no further! Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s classic, feel-good story, Zog (Thursday 4 – Sunday 7 June) is brought to roaring, soaring life in this delightful musical. This charming smash-hit show, from the producers of Stick Man and Zog and the Flying Doctors will feature joyful songs by Joe Stilgoe and beautiful puppets by Little Angel, is a treat for children and adults alike.
Join Beverley Musical Theatre for a vibrant new production of timeless classic, Grease (Tuesday 16 – Saturday 20 June). Bursting with hits including ‘Greased Lightnin”, ‘Hopelessly Devoted to You’, ‘You’re The One That I Want’, this beloved show follows Danny and Sandy as they navigate high school life, friendships, first loves and the unforgettable rock ‘n’ roll soundtrack that defined generations.
As a proud Theatre of Sanctuary, Hull Truck Theatre will once again be taking part in this year’s celebration of Refugee Week (15 – 21 June). Inspired by the lives and experiences of people seeking sanctuary, Refugee Week 2026 invites us to explore the theme of “Courage”. Hull Truck Theatre in partnership with the Refugee Council will be hosting a visual art exhibition centred around this year’s theme. Courage Beyond Borders: Expression Through Art (Tuesday 16 – Saturday 20 June) with a dedicated launch event (Wednesday 17 June). All artwork has been created as a result of art workshops, created by Refugee Council clients and delivered by Square Peg, Hull.
Act III, Hull Truck Theatre’s weekly theatre makers group for retired adults has been working with local Hull Playwright, Maureen Lennon to create another entertaining contemporary performance. Old Habits (Friday 26 – Saturday 27 June) follows a group of elderly nuns who discover that their cherished former convent is set to be transformed into luxury flats. Find out what happens when the sisters embark on a bold mission to reclaim what’s rightfully theirs. These sisters are doing it for themselves in this madcap Hull Truck Theatre production. Finally, First Thursday Theatre Club (Thursday 4 June) invites any adult aged 18 and over to join Hull Truck Theatre’s Associate Director, Tom Saunders, for a practical writing session focused on the art of building tension in storytelling. This session will include a mix of writing exercises and group discussion, from 10.30am – 1.30pm.
