Little Owls Nursery celebrates 10 years and is looking for passionate staff to join the team

Little Owls day nursery, which is owned and run by Dove House Hospice to raise funds for the charity, is celebrating 10 years since it first started looking after children at the original Chamberlain Road site.

Since opening in 2016 Little Owls has cared for 800 children at the Dove House site and a further 440 at its sister site at Ainthorpe, and collectively the nurseries have raised over £1.5million for Dove House Hospice.

To mark this special occasion the Little Owls team are holding a party for families of children that have been cared for since the business opened in 2016 and they are also taking the opportunity to expand the team and are looking for passionate childcare staff to join.

Emma Sperring, Nursery Manager, who joined the Little Owls team when the nursery first opened, said “Working at Little Owls has been so rewarding, the childcare sector is hard work but knowing we have made a difference to so many children’s lives makes it so worthwhile. It is even more special that so much money has been raised for Dove House too, it’s so special to be able to do the job I am passionate about whilst also helping local families needing hospice care too.”

Little Owls are currently recruiting roles at both sites including Room Supervisor, Nursery Practitioners, Admin Staff and SENCOs and are looking for passionate professionals to join the well-established team.

Kerry Farquhar, Nursery Operations Manager, who has been with Little Owls since the hospice launched the nursery, said: “Every week we care for up 250 children and it is a privilege to be part of shaping so many young lives. We started as a team of four and are now a team of 40, each of us committed to providing the very best care and education to young children. Our team has really experienced staff who have been in the sector for many years working alongside the next generation of childcare professionals, we learn so much from each other and share skills which creates a strong collaborative approach to our daily work.

Working at Little Owls is unique because of it’s link to Dove House Hospice. Knowing the work we do every day makes a difference beyond the young lives we impact is incredible, everyone here is very proud to supporting the hospice too.”
