St Nicholas Primary School, part of the esteemed Humber Education Trust, is proud to announce that it has once again achieved the prestigious School Games Gold Mark Award, a national recognition celebrating schools that demonstrate exceptional commitment to sport and physical activity.
The government-backed award acknowledges schools that go above and beyond to provide high-quality sporting opportunities and encourage active lifestyles both within school and across the wider community.
This latest achievement reflects St Nicholas Primary School’s ongoing commitment to placing physical activity at the centre of its curriculum and culture. By offering a wide range of inclusive and competitive sporting experiences, the school ensures every pupil has the opportunity to take part, build confidence, develop teamwork skills and strengthen resilience.
Achieving Gold Mark status is recognition of the school’s success in creating an environment where effort is valued, achievements are celebrated and every child is encouraged to flourish through sport. Throughout the past year, pupils have benefited from a diverse programme of sporting activities, including participation in the Barclays Girls’ Football in Schools partnership and a successful World Cup-themed sporting event hosted by the school.
Pupils were delighted to hear the news. Daros said: “We were very excited to get the award. We love PE and the activities are fun. I like going to the competitions.”
Fellow pupil Nolan added: “I am so proud of our school’s gold award. I have enjoyed representing my school in a variety of festivals.”
Head of School, Sarah Leaf, spoke of her pride in the achievement: “St Nicholas Primary School may be a small school, but it has a huge heart and an unwavering passion for learning. I am incredibly proud that the School Games has recognised the commitment and enthusiasm shown by our staff, pupils and wider community in championing both sport and inclusion.
