Unity Cafe on North Hull Estate is delighted to be reopening its doors on Monday 17th May.
Opening for the first time since the November lockdown, Unity Cafe is initially operating slightly reduced opening hours between 10am and 2pm, Monday to Friday.
The cafe is run by community interest charity, Unity in Community (Unity) and subsidised by the Community Led Local Development Fund. Unity Cafe is a local hub for residents of HU6 and workers in the area who can enjoy delicious home-cooked food at subsidised prices.
The menu includes breakfasts from £1, hot and cold sandwiches, paninis and jacket potatoes, as well as incredibly popular daily specials, puddings and desserts, all served up with a warm and friendly welcome.
Carl Frew, the Head Cook and Cafe Manager, says: “One of the great benefits of Unity Cafe is the community spirit. Many customers will come in on their own, knowing that our friendly team will be pleased to see them.
“Anyone who has been isolated over the last year can be assured that all covid-safe practices are in place and we have plenty of room for social distancing. Customers must follow the rule of six, or two households of any size. All food and drinks will be ordered for eating and drinking while seated at the table.
“Since first opening in November 2019, we have built up a fantastic base of regular customers and we can’t wait to see you again from Monday.”
The funding is from the European Social Fund and the European Regional Development Fund and has created a new way of supporting local development projects using structural funds from Europe. It aims to increase employment, skills and social enterprise, ensuring that local people are involved in developing projects, using resources from the area to address local challenges.
