Callum Akester completes memorable season

PBS-sponsored golf starlet, Callum Akester, has just completed a memorable season on the Rob Rock Junior Golf Tour.

Hull-born Callum (9) enjoyed five victories in the season just finished, comprising of two regular tour events, a major championship, the Heathland Classic and the Spanish Open. In addition to those successes, he secured a top 30 placing in the European Championship held in Scotland and also finished second on the order of merit in the Under 12 section of the Rob Rock Junior Tour after 22 rounds of competition.

It’s a fantastic list of achievements for the youngster and his proud dad (and caddy), Pete Akester, who said:

“It’s been a great season for Callum and being backed by PBS Construction over the last three years has been pivotal in allowing him the opportunity to compete against the best 9-12-year-old golfers in the UK. Without that support we wouldn’t have been able to think about competing at the level that we have, and Callum and all of our family are very grateful. We’re now looking forward to and preparing for next season.”

Brendon Smurthwaite, Community Manager at PBS Construction, added:

“As a local, family business with a passion for sport it’s nice for us to be able to support Callum on his golfing journey. He has a real dedication to the sport, which has been rewarded through the amazing results he’s enjoyed this season, and we’d like to congratulate him on a fantastic year and look forward to following his progress again in 2023.”
