Light up a Life is a wonderful opportunity for hospice supporters and the wider community to gather together to share stories and fond memories.
Dove House Hospice welcomes everyone, regardless of how long ago your loved one died and whether or not they received hospice care. The generosity of those who honour a loved one through Light up a Life ensures Dove House is there for every family who needs them, at Christmas time and throughout the year.
With your support, the hospice can go the extra mile to ensure that memories which will be cherished forever are made, and that such a dark and difficult time is filled with warmth and light.
The festive season is a time to enjoy precious moments with family and friends but it is also a time to remember those who are no longer here. Christmas can be a hard time of year for families who have lost loved ones, especially this year. Light up a Life is a unique opportunity to remember those who have died, join together and celebrate their life at Christmas time.
Light up a Life will be held on Saturday 11th December 2021 at Dove House Hospice, Chamberlain Road, Hull HU8 8DH. There will be two services, 2.30pm and 6.30pm.
When you remember your loved one as part of your Light up a Life donation you will receive a white Dove Decoration (donations under £100) or LED Bauble (donations £100 and over), Personalised Light up a Life Christmas card and a Light up a Life ceremony guide. Please note you will receive your Light up a Life ceremony pack on the day of the event. If you are unable to attend the event in person, your ceremony pack will be posted to you. Additionally, a recording of the ceremony will be available to watch on the Dove House Hospice YouTube channel. This recording will also feature the lighting of the Christmas Tree.
For many people, Christmas is a special time to remember their loved ones and share cherished memories. Richard, who’s Dad died at Dove House cannot thank the hospice enough and really looks forward to the annual Light up a Life service. “Being able to come together with other
families who truly understand…makes the festive period that little bit easier to bear.”
Katie Wilkinson, Individual Fundraiser at Dove House also says: “We are so pleased to be able to come together again this year in person. We really want everyone to know this is open to anyone who has lost someone and would like to join us and celebrate the lives of their loved ones this Christmas. This year is especially important for us to be able to hold an in person service as we haven’t been able to join together for so long and a lot of families haven’t been able to have funerals that they would have wanted.”
In order to guarantee a loved one’s name being placed in the Book of Lights, dedications need to be made by Sunday 21st November 2021.
