Hull City Council has today published a decision record that will award a contract for the design and project management of improvements to a number of city centre streets.
LDA Design Consulting Ltd will be responsible for the delivery of detailed designs covering Princes Dock Street, Humber Dock Street and High Street (Blackfriargate to Liberty Lane).
The project means they are now tasked with creating high-quality public realm, which is safe, welcoming, flexible and accessible to all.
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, Portfolio Holder for Transportation, Roads and Highways said: “Improving the look, feel and accessibility of key routes within the city centre is a sure way to encourage and support more walking and cycling in those areas.
“It makes perfect sense, against the backdrop of the Maritime Project, to offer more attractive and navigable routes to visitors to our city. I support the decision, and I look forward to seeing the designs.”
The project is jointly funded by National Highways and Hull City Council’s Highways Capital budget, following the council’s successful bid for National Highways Designated Funds.
The detailed design contract will run from now to August 2024. It is expected that the improvement works will begin late summer 2024 through to 2026.
