The team at an East Yorkshire poultry business is celebrating after being shortlisted in the East Riding of Yorkshire Chairman’s Awards 2025.

Middleton on the Wolds based Soanes Poultry has been shortlisted for the Business Award (Businesses with over 51 employees) in this year’s Chairman’s Awards that recognise people, businesses or organisations within the East Riding of Yorkshire who have gone above and beyond to serve the community and who have made a significant difference to enhancing their local community and the social wellbeing of the area.
Soanes Poultry’s MD, Ben Lee, said: “We’re proud to be part of East Yorkshire’s thriving rural economy, employing 180 local people and buying goods and services locally wherever possible. We’re honoured to have reached the final of this prestigious awards scheme and are looking forward to meeting our fellow finalists next month.”
The team will learn whether they have been successful at an awards event hosted by the Chairman of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Councillor Linda Bayram and Clare Frisby from BBC Look North in Beverley on 13th May. Soanes Poultry faces competition from Everard Group Ltd., Newport and Peak Security, Bridlington.
Named after the son of the founder of Soanes Poultry, Clive Soanes Broilers has been rearing chicken for Soanes Poultry since 1947. Clive Soanes grew the business from the 1950s until his retirement in the 1990s. Soanes Poultry sells chicken to butchers and independent retailers throughout Yorkshire and to wholesalers, catering butchers and restaurants nationwide.
