Hull’s Feral Art School is set to open its first art exhibition at its new City centre premises. The show opens on the ground floor of the former Co-operative bank. It showcases recent work in painting and mixed media created by seven artists who work in their first floor studios as part of a new initiative.
The exhibition opens daily from 12-19 December, 12 noon to 5pm at The Feral Art School, 22 Alfred Gelder Street Hull, HU1 2BS.
Artist and Feral Founder member, Dom Heffer, who works with the artists on the studio initiative explains:
“We’re delighted to showcase the work of our seven resident artists in the first exhibition at our new home. The artists, all former Feral students moved into to their studios last July as part of our supported studio scheme. The original bank building layout lends itself perfectly to studios and an exhibition space, and the artists have relished the opportunity to make new work in a new space. It’s been a joy to watch their work evolve over the past few months.”
The seven Hull based artists featured in the show include Anna Dinsdale, Tom Grealy, Linda Martin, David Rowe, Bruce Woodcock, Dawn Woodmansey and Dionne Ruffy.
Artist Linda Martin said: “It’s such a great opportunity to have a studio here at Feral to be in such a central location looking out onto Queens Gardens. I appreciate the chance of a city studio space with all the benefits of being part of an artist community here in the hub of the Feral Art School.”
