This Christmas, E Nesbit’s classic story The Railway Children will steam into Hull and onto the stage at Hull Truck Theatre from Friday 26 November 2021 – Sunday 2 January 2022.
Leading the production, which is proudly sponsored by Hull Trains, as the much-loved Waterbury siblings are Gina Jamieson as Bobby, Robyn McIntyre as Phyllis and David Fallon as Peter.
Gina Jamieson trained at Manchester School of Theatre, LAMDA and the Rambert School of Dance, and her credits include: Arthur/Merlin (Iris Theatre) and This Place (LJMU Film Festival). Robyn McIntyre has been a member of The National Youth Music Theatre since 2014 and has previously appeared in Fiddler on the Roof (The Playhouse) and Bring It On: The Musical (The Southwark Playhouse). David Fallon trained at Rose Bruford College in London and has performed in Cheer Up Slug (Live Theatre) and Romeo & Juliet, Hamlet (Cranked Anvil).
The cast also includes Niall Costigan (The Gaul for Hull Truck Theatre; The Tempest for The Rose Theatre York; The Rising for Sky One) as Father/Mr Perks; Kate Hampson (Tapestry for Northern Broadsides; Happy Valley for BBC One) as Mother/Mrs Perks; Claire Storey (Oliver Twist for Hull Truck Theatre; Grimm Tales for Dukes Theatre Lancaster; Coronation Street for ITV) as Cook/Mrs Viney; Guy Burgess (Hamlet for Royal Shakespeare Company; Whitstable Pearl for Acorn TV) as Doctor/Old Gentleman; Daniel Reid-Walters (Much Ado About Nothing for New English Shakespeare Company / Dubai Opera House) as Mr Schepansky/Butler/Jim.
The professional cast will also be supported by two teams of three young performers, playing the young Bobby, Phyllis and Peter, who have been cast from Hull Truck’s Youth Theatre and Northern Academy of Performing Arts.
Mike Kenny (Cinderella & Sleeping Beauty at Hull Truck Theatre) has revisited his award-winning adaptation to include the original songs that have become a much-loved part of a Hull Truck Theatre Christmas show. The Railway Children, which was originally scheduled for Christmas 2020 but postponed due to the pandemic, is directed by Mark Babych and from the team who brought audiences Oliver Twist and Peter Pan.
