GoFoodie promoted their new healthy food app at Tesco in St Stephen’s shopping centre again in Hull on Sunday 15 September.
Staff from GoFoodie were available to explain the concept and demonstrate how quick and easy it is to register and start trading. The start-up is thrilled at the support received from Tesco in helping recruit local cooks to join their home-cooked food platform.
GoFoodie is a preorder, prepay app dedicated to home cooks selling authentic, healthy, homemade takeaway food made with fresh ingredients, delivered directly to customers’ doorsteps. The company offers an alternative food delivery service, allowing customers to preorder from local, FSA hygiene-rated, and Local authority-registered and approved, home cooks.
This was the second event where Tesco has supported GoFoodie, with the first held during the summer holidays. During that event, four cooks currently trading on the platform, handed out samples and shared their experiences of using the app and trading on the platform.
“The opportunity to present in Tesco was arranged through Jan Loft, Partnership Manager,” explained Christine Bettinson, GoFoodie Operations Manager. “Jan’s 25 years of experience in the retail industry were vital in helping us secure the right support to grow GoFoodie.
“We’re excited because we have two objectives: one is to find passionate cooks who want to share their food locally, and the other is to inform the community that we’re here – we’re offering an alternative app to preorder food, which is then delivered to homes or workplaces.”
Joining GoFoodie provides cooks with a unique opportunity to gain new skills in areas such as food safety, marketing, and customer service, while generating extra income. Cooks can expand their reach and grow their own businesses, all while setting their own hours and working around their personal commitments.
“I find this a great new concept. Presentation was 10/10 and very professional friendly service. The products were amazing. There was some interest from colleagues that are keen in the kitchen,” commented Tracey Hales, Tesco Community Champion. “GoFoodie is offering a platform for independent caterers to sell their products”.
Based on the success of these events, Lauren Hughes, Store Manager has invited GoFoodie to reach out to other branches in Hull. She sees the app’s potential to create job opportunities in the local area – particularly as GoFoodie empowers entrepreneurs to be their own boss and choose working hours that suit their lifestyle.
