Residents across Winterton are being invited to take part in a new community initiative that could help save lives.

Following a successful public meeting in April, St John Ambulance is launching its first free community training session in partnership with Winterton Town Council.
The initiative aims to create a network of trained volunteers across Winterton who can provide vital support to someone suffering a life-threatening condition while waiting for an ambulance to arrive.
Organisers hope to recruit at least one volunteer from every street in the town, helping to build a safer and more resilient community.
The free first aid awareness session will take place on:
Wednesday 24th June
7pm – 9pm
Winterton Community Pavilion
Newport Drive, Winterton, DN15 9RG
Volunteers attending the session will learn how to respond in an emergency, with plenty of practical, hands-on experience included.
The programme is designed to give local people the confidence and awareness to help others in critical situations.
Phil, St John Ambulance Network Lead, South Humber, commented:
‘It was wonderful to meet local residents from Winterton in April. We are excited to help build confidence in providing First Aid during emergencies and look forward to developing strong relationships within the community.
St John Ambulance would like to thank Winterton Town Council and The Poirier Foundation for their invaluable support in helping to launch this initiative. We look forward to working together to make a positive difference in the local community.’

Organisers are encouraging residents to come along and discover how they could help save a life within their community.
Additional free training sessions are planned for the future for those unable to attend the first event. Ongoing support and refresher sessions will also be provided as required.
Please note that this is not a certificated first aid course. The aim is to provide practical instruction and awareness to support others in an emergency as part of a wider community network.
