Following months of hard work and extensive training, a group of HEY Volunteers have achieved White Badge status in guiding visitors around four of Hull’s Museums sites – Ferens Art Gallery, Hull and East Riding Museum, Streetlife Museum and Wilberforce House Museum.

Between September 2023 and February this year, the group of volunteers completed a training and lecture programme to pass the Institute of Tour Guiding Level two accredited training programme. They are all now Institute of Tourist Guiding White Badge holders, qualified to lead guided tours that will showcase the rich history and cultural heritage preserved within the city’s museums.

Each tour will give visitors an insight into the collections on display, share stories of some of the objects and the historic buildings they’re in.

Regular free guided tours for visitors are now available to book across the museum sites. Find out more and book a tour here.

Group tours are also available to book here.

Jane Avison, Museums and Gallery Manager, said: “We are excited to launch these new tours working with such a dedicated team of volunteers.

“We hope they will inspire our visitors, offering greater insights and knowledge about our wonderful collections.”
