HoH Food Hall: Chinese Laundry

If you love vintage clothing, you definitely need to pay a visit to HoH Food Hall and check out the latest addition to its retail section, the much-loved Chinese Laundry.

Chinese Laundry opened its flagship store on Savile Street back in 2004 and has since become a favourite with people from across the region who appreciate old-school attire. The popularity of the vintage and alternative clothing boutique led to additional stores opening in York eight years ago and more recently Leeds, spreading a unique Hull fashion brand across the breadth of Yorkshire.

“We were approached by HoH and decided that it was the perfect place to set up another unit,” said owner Alfie Appleton. “Chinese Laundry celebrates our passion for vintage and our mission is to bring more of it to Hull, so I’m very thankful to be doing something I love and gradually growing the brand.”

When visiting Chinese Laundry in HoH Food Hall, you’ll find a wide variety of clothing, footwear and accessories for men and women, including hand-picked stock from some of the finest vintage collections of Europe and the USA. Alongside well-known sports and leisure labels, the retail unit also presents reworked items and its own line of branded clothing.

Chinese Laundry has always had strong links with the local music scene too, which makes it a strong addition to HoH Food Hall and its eclectic programme of live acts and DJs. In fact, Alfie is the vocalist of local band FIRE (The Unstoppable Force), which has performed its unique blend of post-apocalyptic dark soul garage to energetic audiences at The Adelphi Club, The Polar Bear, Humber Street Sesh and many more venues around the region.

“Our new unit adds another dimension to HoH Food Hall and strengthens its growing retail offering,” said Alfie. “We’re open 10am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 4pm on Sundays, so pop down to explore our wide range of vintage items from the UK and around the world.”

Whether you’re searching for a whole new look or simply want a few signature pieces to transform your wardrobe, Chinese Laundry is the answer. From classic sports tees and vintage sweatshirts to children’s clothing for little rock stars, make sure to visit the new unit inside HoH Food Hall and discover what it has to offer.
