Hull PDSA Pet Hospital was awarded £1,000 from Persimmon Homes Yorkshire, as part of its Community Champions scheme.
The hospital, located on Brunswick Avenue, provides nearly 58,000 treatments a year to Hull residents at an annual cost of £948,000, and the housebuilder’s donation will offer a lifeline to many pet patients, and their owners, at their time of need.
Scott Williams for Hull PDSA Pet Hospital said: “Many of the owners we see each day tell how the love and companionship of a pet is beneficial to their mental wellbeing.
“We rely on support, such as this kind donation from Persimmons, to make sure we can be there for a pet when they need us most, providing life-saving work and caring for pets whose owners have nowhere else to turn.”
Persimmon Homes Yorkshire makes two donations of up to £1,000 every month to grassroots groups and charities in the areas where it is building.
Scott Waters, managing director for Persimmon Homes Yorkshire, said: “PDSA does a wonderful job helping the pets of people who are struggling to pay for vet care. For many, pets are part of the family and a lifeline when times are difficult. We hope that our donation will help them to continue delivering this vital service to the people of Hull.”
Persimmon Homes is currently building stunning new homes at Mulberry Gardens in Hull.
