HU5 Clothes Swap – successful clothing exchange initiative returns to the city

The organisers of the HU5 Clothes Swap are excited to announce that they are holding their first swap of 2023 next month.

After three successful clothes swaps last year, the organisers of the hugely popular clothing exchange are inviting people to join them at their first event of the year, which will take place next month.

With research suggesting that 83% of Brits have at least six items of clothing in their wardrobe that they have not worn in the last year, this event creates a place where people can swap unwanted clothing with ‘new’ items, refreshing their wardrobe whilst being environmentally conscious.

To ensure a smooth running day, the event – which will take place at St Ninian’s Church on Chanterlands Avenue – has a 20 item limit and a token system in place (one item = one token). But don’t worry, If you don’t find the same number of items to take away, you can carry your tokens across to the next swap.

The organisers also ask that people only bring items in good condition. Ask yourself, would I pay money for this in a shop?

Accepted items include:
Adult clothing
Children’s clothing
Baby clothes welcome
Bags
Shoes

A spokesperson from the HU5 Clothes Swap said: “Our last clothes swap was a great success and we had more people than ever, despite the terrible weather.

“This time we would love to see even more people come along and have a good rummage and a natter, regardless of whether you are a HU5er or not – everyone is welcome.”

The HU5 Clothes Swap will take place at St Ninian’s Church (via the Victoria Avenue entrance) on Chanterlands Avenue, Hull, on Sunday 5 February, from noon until 3pm.

Entry is £1 per person and children go free.
