Hull and East Yorkshire Mind delivers wellbeing champion training to Nisa colleagues

Local mental health charity Hull and East Yorkshire Mind is delivering mental health training to Nisa colleagues to create mental health champions within the workplace.

The training, delivered on two separate dates, will help Nisa colleagues to understand mental health and wellbeing and spot the signs of poor mental health in both themselves and others. The training will also teach colleagues how to offer support to people who are struggling with their mental health.

The training is being delivered by Hull and East Yorkshire Mind’s team of experienced mental health professionals and funded by Nisa.

Experts at the charity say that 1 in 4 people will struggle with their mental health every single year, with 1 in 6 reporting experiencing a mental health problem at work. Nisa is keen to support this training and promote awareness in order to help colleagues across the business thrive in the workplace and at home.

Dan Warren, Director of Development at Hull and East Yorkshire Mind, said: “We are delighted to be working with Nisa to deliver this important training. Raising awareness and creating mental health champions is really important to us. We firmly believe that by working together with Nisa, we can make a significant difference in our local communities.

“Delivering training like this really help us to reduce stigma around mental health and wellbeing and it also helps us to empower local people to look after their mental health, and the mental health of others.

“We are looking forward to continue working alongside Nisa and colleagues to make mental health a priority for all.”

Helen Walker, Wellbeing Champion Lead at Nisa, added: “We are passionate about helping people to understand mental health and to support themselves and others. We believe that this training will make a real difference to the lives of Nisa colleagues.

“We are committed to the wellbeing of our colleagues and we believe that this training will help our colleagues to understand mental health and to support themselves and others.”

Leanne Cooke, who attended the training with Nisa said: “I came to mental health champion training with a desire to learn more about mental health and how I could help others. I left with a newfound sense of purpose and a toolkit of resources that I can use to make a difference in Nisa. I am grateful for the opportunity to have attended this training and I am excited to put my new skills to work.”
