Hull-based green cleaning company expanding with new 32,000sqft site

Hull-based green cleaning company Bio-D has announced its relocation to a new 32,000sqft site after seeing a significant rise in demand for its range of eco friendly cleaning products.

Located at the Marfleet Environmental Technology Park on Hedon Road, Bio-D has invested over £600,000 on the new site, which has double the amount of factory space compared to its previous premises, giving the company more room to manufacture its products as it continues to grow.

Solar panels also enable Bio-D to benefit from its own renewable electricity source, reflecting the value it places on sustainability.

Lloyd Atkin, managing director at Bio-D, said: “Over the past five years Bio-D has seen a rapid increase in sales and our previous site just didn’t have the space we needed to manufacture and store our products whilst upscaling.

“The new site means we can bring all our operations and storage back in-house and create more job opportunities across the city.”

Job vacancies at the new site range from factory and warehouse operatives, to sales managers.

Lloyd continued: “Now we’ve made the move to our new premises, we’re looking forward to having the space to grow as a business and continuing to create high quality cleaning products without compromising the planet.”

The expansion comes after Bio-D secured the regional Energy and Sustainability award at the prestigious Make UK awards for its outstanding efforts to reduce its carbon footprint.

Founded in 1989, Bio-D is the UK’s largest manufacturer of environmentally responsible, ethically sound, vegan cleaning products, using plant-based and naturally derived ingredients. The first UK cleaning consumer brand to use recycled plastics in its packaging, Bio-D creates all its bottled packaging from 100% post-consumer plastic that would otherwise end up in landfill.

Its products are available online and at independent shops throughout the UK, with local stockists including Grain Wholefoods on Newland Avenue and The Eco Shed in Hull’s Trinity Market
