Hull-based MMA champion returns to action

George ‘Saint’ Staines, professional MMA fighter from Hull returns to the cage on Saturday 20 April, in Birmingham, at OKTAGON 56.

Following its first two UK shows, in Manchester and Newcastle respectively, OKTAGON MMA’s UK expansion continues, with the next stop being Birmingham.

Staines has risen to prominence within OKTAGON MMA – the biggest MMA promotion in Europe – following his victories on OKTAGON Challenge: England vs Ireland. After dominant wins in the quarter and semi-finals, Staines submitted Denis Frimpong in the final, in what was his professional MMA debut, cementing his spot as one of the world’s most exciting MMA prospects.

After an impressive amatuer career, resulting in a record of 16-1, Staines made the leap to the professional ranks seamlessly, and will look to improve to 2-0 in Birmingham.

George Staines commented: “The UK MMA scene is really popping at the moment, and I can’t wait to get back in. I had seven fights last year, so I needed to take some time off and let my body rest, but I can’t wait to get back in.”
