The Malt Shovel, a community pub in Hull, is celebrating after donating 270 Easter eggs to the Wheeler Primary School.

Over the course of the last two months, the pub has been collecting Easter eggs kindly donated by Hull locals, who have been more than willing to go out and purchase an egg to give to a child to help make their Easter extra special.
The Malt Shovel’s annual Easter egg appeal has seen an incredible 270 eggs donated to the primary school this year – a heartwarming effort that is bringing Easter joy to many children.
This week, pub Operator Graham Smart delivered all 270 Easter eggs to the primary school, where staff expressed their heartfelt thanks with the generous donation anticipated to bring smiles and joy to the faces of many children.
This monumental fundraising effort could not have been achieved without the generosity of the Hull community – many people in the area attended and have personal connections to the Wheeler Primary School and were eager to help a great cause.
For Operator Graham Smart, this cause is particularly close to home. He was inspired to donate as many Easter eggs as possible due to his willingness and passion to support those less fortunate in the community.
Graham said: “To see the community come together to support such an important cause is a heartwarming and prime example of what makes the Hull community so brilliant.
“The guests here at the Malt Shovel are always keen to support the local community and get behind any ideas we have and our Easter egg donation appeal this year was no different.
“My aim is simple – to help out parents who may be struggling in the current financial climate by providing their child with an Easter egg to help make their Easter weekend special.”
Located on 583 Anlaby Road, the popular pub plans to build on its success with continued fundraising events designed to engage the community.
