Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to announce that the East Riding Partnership Addictions Service has been shortlisted for the Maternity and Midwifery Initiative of the Year award at this year’s HSJ Patient Safety Awards.
This award recognises the outstanding contribution that the team are making, following one of the most challenging years in health and social care.
The project submitted was one focused on the East Riding Partnership (ERP), a community addictions service that has been involved in the care and support of pregnant patients for many years.
ERP has been shortlisted despite the tough competition from hundreds of applicants and the team believe this success is based on their ambition, visionary spirit and the demonstrable positive impact that their approach has had on patient and staff experiences within the healthcare sector.
Further to this, ERP is a partnership between Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust, the Alcohol and Drug Service (non-statutory agency) and Nacro (non-statutory agency for criminal justice patients).
The service provides holistic, multi-disciplinary support for people who have substance use disorders. Pregnant patients within an addiction service add a greater degree of complexity and the welfare of both mother and baby needs to be addressed. Enhancement of the care pathway by strengthening a multi-professional, multi-organisational planned approach was developed.
Andy Partington, Service Manager for East Riding Partnership, said: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for the Maternity and Midwifery Initiative of the Year, recognising the collaborative efforts and dedication of our staff members over the last 12 months to successfully develop this collaborative approach to care.”
Dr Soraya Mayet, Consultant Psychiatrist – Addictions, added: ”We are committed to delivering improved outcomes for all our patients, and to be chosen among the other incredible nominees is a wonderful achievement. This nomination has been a tremendous boost to staff at East Riding Partnership and our wider multi-organisational healthcare colleagues and I am sure it will bolster our continued efforts to improve our services.”
The HSJ Patient Safety Awards’ judging panel is made up of a diverse range of highly influential and respected figures within the healthcare community including Sue Smith OBE (Executive Chief Nurse and Deputy Chief Executive Officer, University Hospitals Morecambe Bay FT), Rachel Power (Chief Executive, The Patients Association), Dr Hester Wain (Head of Patient Safety Policy, NHS England and NHS Improvement).
