Industry puts its weight behind OWC 2023

Offshore Wind Connections is attracting high-profile support in its 10th anniversary year.

The conference, which is organised by Humber Marine & Renewables, returns on Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 May and has secured leading developer Orsted as its headline sponsor, with other major players in the offshore wind sector also signing up.

RWE has taken platinum sponsorship and Associated British Ports is the lanyard sponsor. Andrew Jackson Solicitors, Carlbom Shipping, Mindmap Productions, MMS Ship Repairs and Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult have all taken gold sponsorship.

Orsted is also celebrating its own 10-year anniversary. It is now a decade since it committed to investing in the Humber region to develop its world-leading wind farms. With Hornsea 1 and 2 in operation, it has planning consent for Hornsea 3 and is also exploring the potential for Hornsea 4.

RWE is currently developing plans for Dogger Bank South, following the success of its Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm. It is investing in Grimsby Hub, a state-of-the-art operations and maintenance facility, which will look after all its UK wind farm operations and represents a long-term commitment to the Humber region.

Other support for OWC 2023 comes from the Humber Offshore Wind Cluster, which is shaping the agenda for the event, RSM, Hull City Council, The Department for Business and Trade, RenewableUK and The Supply Chain Network.

Media partners for the event are Reach plc, BusinessWorks magazine, Wind Energy Network, Commerce & Industry Magazine, RE:News, Mapa PR and Mindmap Productions.

Andrew Oliver, chair of Humber Marine & Renewables, said that the level of support for OWC 2023 demonstrated how important the conference has become since it started in 2013:

“From small beginnings when the sector was in its infancy, it is now regarded as an essential annual gathering to get up-to-the-minute information, identify current opportunities, and collaborate to ensure that the Humber stays front and centre as a global leader.”

OWC 2023 is taking place at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Hull. It starts on the evening of Wednesday 3 May with a RenewableUK networking drinks event supported by RSM, followed by a day of speakers and exhibitors and networking. The conference will finish with the Humber Renewable Awards on the evening of Thursday 4 May.
