This prestigious award celebrates exceptional care professionals across home care company Home Instead’s 260 UK offices. Louisa was chosen out of 12,000 Home Instead care professionals for her extraordinary dedication to dementia care and making a difference to her clients’ lives.

Louisa’s journey began at 15, caring for her great grandma who lived with dementia. This led her to train as a mental health nurse and work in the NHS for 30 years, beginning on a dementia ward. In 2022, she joined Home Instead Beverley and Hull, keen to help older people remain in their own homes with dignity and independence.

Louisa commented: “I am deeply honoured to have been a finalist for this award. Being able to support people in a way that helps them live their lives with dignity, joy, and connection is what drives me every day and it’s a privilege to work with such amazing individuals!”

Louisa’s dedication has transformed the life of her client, Jim, who lives with dementia. She has worked with local businesses to create inclusive spaces for him, provided patient support to help him overcome anxiety around showering, and used creative approaches to home care to boost his confidence and dignity.

Mandy Aitken, owner of Home Instead Beverley and Hull, commented: “Louisa embodies everything we value at Home Instead. Her compassion and innovative care make her truly deserving of this recognition, and we are incredibly proud to have her on our team.”

The awards ceremony took place at Manchester Central, hosted by TV legend Lorraine Kelly, where finalists were celebrated for their dedication to the care profession.
