Sam Fletcher, a 34-year-old Technical Manager from Anlaby, is embarking on an extraordinary journey to run 25 marathons in just 25 days, starting with the London Marathon on 27 April and finishing in his home town of Hull on the 21st May. His mission? To raise vital funds and awareness for Cure Leukaemia, a charity dedicated to funding groundbreaking blood cancer treatments and research.

This ambitious challenge is deeply personal for Sam. His mother has battled leukaemia for the past eight years, and her resilience has inspired him to push his own limits in support of a cause that impacts so many families across the UK.
“Cancer touches everyone in some way,” Sam explains. “I want to do my part to help fund the treatments that give hope to patients like my mum. Running 25 marathons is a daunting task, but with the support of my family, friends, and the community, I believe I can make a real difference.”
Sam has been a dedicated runner since summer 2020, using running as a source of strength during challenging times. His toughest challenge is expected to be the Leeds Rob Burrow Marathon, the 15th in his series, known for its steep inclines. To sustain his energy through this demanding feat, he has adopted a high-calorie diet, and will be consuming over 5,000 calories daily during the challenge.
Throughout his journey, Sam has already completed four marathons, including the London, Yorkshire, Bologna, and Leeds Rob Burrow marathons. His motivation is fuelled by the unwavering support of his loved ones, and he is eager to inspire others to get involved – whether by running alongside him or making a donation.
“My mum has been fortunate to benefit from a tablet based treatment with fewer side effect that traditional chemotherapy. She is currently in remission and that’s all thanks to research charities like Cure Leukaemia.
“This is about more than just running, I’m pushing myself to the limits to raise money and awareness for a charity that gives people like my mum, hope.
“The support I’ve received so far has been incredible, and it keeps me going,” says Sam. “Every step I take is for the people affected by leukaemia, and I hope my efforts can contribute to the progress being made in treatments.”
Sam is managing the 25 marathons around his full time work schedule, using some holidays and 4 volunteer days which are free holidays to undertake charity work.
Running 655 miles, Sam invites everyone to join him in this remarkable endeavour. Whether by running part of a marathon or donating to Cure Leukaemia, your support can help save lives and bring hope to countless families.
