Local hospice engages in recycling initiative to help raise awareness and funds

This Christmas will see the Christmas Tree Recycling appeal return in aid of local charity Dove House Hospice.

Partnering with national organisation Just Helping, the initiative aims to engage with residents and allow them to dispose of their Christmas trees in an eco-friendly manner. During the weekend of Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 January 2024, people in the HU5, HU8, HU10, HU13, HU14, HU16 and HU17 postcode areas can register to have their tree collected in return for a donation to the hospice.

Hannah Gamble, Fundraising Assistant at Dove House Hospice, explained: “This Christmas sees the return of our well supported recycling initiative. Residents can simply leave their real Christmas trees at the top of their drive or in their front garden and our team of volunteers will collect directly.

“It is hoped that this year’s appeal raises £3,000 for local hospice care. Support of this kind from the local community is greatly valued by all at the charity and essential to help Dove House Hospice continue to provide the vital person-centred care for many people in Hull and East Yorkshire.”
