Beverley-based singer-songwriter Rachel Makena has kicked off 2022 with the release of her new EP ‘Indigo Violet’.
With indie folk roots there is also a slant of blues and country, which lends the EP an Americana twist. There are four songs, which have a very acoustic and relaxed feel. Each song is a solid piece of song writing which would be of interest to anybody on the look-out for local musical talent, or for anyone simply wanting to enjoy a few great songs on their coffee break. The lead single from ‘Indigo Violet’ is a fantastic contemporary folk song called ‘Daylight’ and there is an accompanying music video which was filmed around locations in the Humber region. Various radio stations around the UK have already played tracks from the EP, including BBC Radio Humberside. Rachel is a regular on the gig scene where she often combines well-known pop hits with original offerings.
