Local students have made their mark on the design of one of the newly opened show homes at five-star housebuilder Lovell Homes’ latest development, The Sycamores, in Kirk Ella.
When complete, the development will boast 224 two-, three- and four-bedroom houses, with prices for three-bedroom homes starting from £247,000 and four-bedroom homes from £415,000.
As the site occupies land that used to belong to nearby Wolfreton School and Sixth Form College, Lovell Homes enlisted art students to design their own sycamore leaves, which have been incorporated into the theme of the show home by interior designer Avril Deehan.
Colette Ben Tarcha, regional sales director, said: “We were delighted to get students from Wolfreton School and Sixth Form College involved in the launch of the show homes. Given the deep rooted connections between the site and the school it seemed appropriate to nurture those links and we were blown away by the creativity the students showed in their work.
“At Lovell, we’re committed to creating communities, which is why we wanted the work from local students to sit at the heart of the show homes for prospective homeowners to enjoy when they visit the site. I’m thrilled that our show homes have officially opened and I can’t wait for everyone to see them and bring the reality of living in Kirk Ella to life for them.”
In preparation for the launch, Avril hosted two workshops with the students to give them an insight into her inspiration behind her designs. Once the leaves had been created, she picked the top ten designs, with prizes for the winning four students, which are now framed and in pride of place for all visitors to see. The remaining designs have been featured in a craft book in the home.
Avril Deehan, interior designer, said: “It’s been a pleasure to work alongside the students and see their creativity come to the fore through their work, which made it incredibly tricky to pick a top ten as everyone’s work was fantastic and complemented the existing designs we’ve been working on.
“I hope the students are all proud of their work, the ten framed designs look wonderful and I’m sure will be the topic of plenty of conversation by prospective homeowners visiting the site in the months to come.”
Andrew Richardson-Medd, subject leader for art at Wolfreton School and Sixth Form College said: “The students really enjoyed their sessions with Avril and found it interesting to learn about the world of interior design. Getting to see their designs take centre stage in the show homes was an incredibly proud moment and we’d like to thank Lovell Homes for the opportunity to showcase the students’ work.”
Two three-bedroom show homes and one four-bedroom are now available to view, with several homes already reserved on development.
