New emergency equipment donated by Humberside Search and Rescue (HUMBSAR) and HFR Solutions Community Interest Company will help strengthen safety and emergency preparedness across Burton Constable’s 330 acres of historic parkland.
Burton Constable has received a new defibrillator and five water rescue throw lines thanks to a generous donation from the two organisations.
The defibrillator will be carried in the Parkland team’s vehicle, allowing the potentially life-saving equipment to be taken quickly to wherever it may be needed across the estate.
Five throw lines have also been donated, providing staff with additional equipment to respond safely in the event of an emergency around water.
The donation has come about through Burton Constable’s Wildlife and Parkland Officer’s involvement with HUMBSAR, a volunteer Lowland Search and Rescue team operating across the Humber region. HUMBSAR was developed by HFR Solutions Community Interest Company, which specialises in emergency response and workplace safety.
Alasdair Hutson, Chief Executive of the Burton Constable Foundation, said: “We’re very grateful to HUMBSAR and HFR Solutions CiC for this generous donation. With 330 acres of Parkland to look after, having this equipment close at hand and able to be taken quickly wherever it may be needed is incredibly valuable. The training provided to our team has also been a great addition, helping us to be better prepared should the equipment ever be needed.”
The equipment was officially handed over to the Burton Constable team by Leigh Smith, Search Manager at HUMBSAR and Instructor at HFR Solutions Community Interest Company, alongside Gary O’Hara, an Instructor at HFR Solutions Community Interest Company.
As part of the handover, Gary also delivered practical training to members of the Burton Constable team on the safe and effective use of the throw lines, helping ensure staff are prepared to use the equipment should it ever be required.

The new equipment will further strengthen the measures in place to help keep visitors, staff and volunteers safe while enjoying Burton Constable’s historic parkland.
