Plans have been unveiled for a new multi-million pound health club in Brough, East Yorkshire, which, subject to planning approval, will bring significant investment and a unique community destination to the local area.

The Kingston Club is aiming to ‘redefine health clubs’ with a state-of-the-art facility providing padel courts, a fitness centre with hybrid gym spaces, wellbeing spa (with recovery therapies including hot and cold treatments), and wellness studios with a holistic offer, including hot yoga and sound baths. Plans also include co-working areas, a cafe and conference space. The plans have been submitted to East Riding Council for planning permission.
Creating 50 new jobs and many more in the construction phase, the multi-million pound, 2.5 acre site is set to be based on the retail park in Bluebird Way, Brough.
The proposed development has been designed to meet increasing consumer demand for health experiences that extend beyond traditional gym membership models. According to Richard, who has more than 20 years of experience in the health and fitness industry, having led teams across some of the UK’s largest health clubs, the Kingston Club will provide a unique offering to the local community.
Richard Wilson, co-founder of The Kingston Club, said: “We are excited and proud to be able to deliver our plans to redefine health clubs in the UK, right here in East Yorkshire.
“Our vision is that The Kingston Club will provide a welcoming community club that promotes healthier lifestyles, through a mix of our state-of-the-art facilities. This will be completely unique to the area, and will be somewhere to play, give people a reason to stay and a place people feel they belong; it’s about community.”
The business said it is committed to working with local suppliers and service providers wherever possible, ensuring the economic benefits of the investment are felt throughout the community.
“As we get further into the process, we will share more details on the local supply chain and the jobs we will be creating, but these will be varied, from fitness instructors and personal trainers, to customer service roles and operational jobs,” Mr Wilson added.
“We are passionate about championing local businesses and our partners will add to the community ethos we want to build as part of this project.”
The Kingston Club will be backed by the Kingston group of companies, a local, independent business, which has been operating in Hull and the East Riding for more than 100 years.
Subject to planning approval, construction and fit-out activities are expected to start later this year and the club will open its doors in summer 2027.
