New scheme launched in Hull to support homeowners

Thanks to the success of a new house-buying initiative launched in Hull, house buyers within East Riding of Yorkshire are leading the way for homeowners across the country.

Homeowners within the area who are looking to move into a new property can now sell their existing home to Barratt Homes for a value based on two independent valuations. If Barratt Homes then sells the home for more than the valuation, homeowners receive this difference.

Following the huge success of The Part Exchange Guarantee Scheme within the Hull area, including at its nearby developments across Cottingham, Brough, Beverley and Hessle, the average additional amount given to homeowners was over £10,000.

Moving house is considered one of the most stressful life events that a person can go through (57%), beating having a child or going through a divorce[1]. The launch of the new Part Exchange Guarantee has been reducing stress for homeowners by removing the potential for a sales chain and also, removing the estate agent fees. Following the success of this scheme within the region, it has now been rolled out nationwide.

The scheme is designed to make purchasing a home as simple as possible, and has been particularly widely welcomed by new home buyers after recent market complications, as highlighted with recent feedback from one happy homeowner within the region:

“We have recently purchased a new home through Barratt Homes. We could not have asked for a better experience, taking seven weeks from reserving through to completion and moving in!

“This included the Part Exchange of our current property, which we were later contacted about regarding the new Part Exchange Guarantee. This scheme is definitely above and beyond anything we could have imagined and well worth anyone looking into, you truly can’t lose out, with full profit (minus estate agent fees) being transferred to you following completion of the sale. As we received over the asking price for ours, this has meant we have a lump sum to help with furnishing our new home”

Paul Hogan, Sales Director at Barratt Developments Yorkshire East, added: “We’re thrilled with the success that this scheme has achieved for homeowners all across the region, so much so, that it’s now being rolled out across the country too. The launch of this scheme has not only aimed to making moving home easier, it also rewards homeowners, so it’s a real win-win for customers.

“The Part Exchange Guarantee Scheme is just one of several initiatives in which we are able to make the house-buying process easier for our customers, and we look forward to continuing to support homeowners stepping on, or up, the property ladder with complete confidence and reassurance.”

Barratt Developments, which includes Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands, has multiple developments within East Riding of Yorkshire, including Harrier Chase in Brough, Harland Park and Poppy Fields in Cottingham, Minster View and Queens Court in Beverley, and Hesslewood Park and Fleet Green in Hessle.
