Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust recently held a Healthcare Support Worker recruitment event at Princes Quay Shopping Centre. On Wednesday 24 January, during the four-hour long event, Trust staff engaged with over 1,000 members of the public interested in applying for a role in the NHS.
Organisers were both surprised and delighted with the interest the event captured, with early signs showing that around 250 people were expected to attend. Yet on the day it was around four times as many as had been expected, with over a 1000 people attending.
Staff supporting on the day even met people who had travelled all the way from Leicester and London, just to attend the event.
A Healthcare Support Worker interacts with patients throughout their care, providing personal assistance and managing their day-to-day needs. When working at the Trust, there are a variety of vacancies across Hull, East Yorkshire, and North Yorkshire available.
The event was held in Princes Quay shopping centre in Hull, with current employees showcasing the role and speaking to attendees. This allowed people to learn about the benefits offered by working in the Trust from someone with direct experience, as well as seek support on applying for the role.
But the real draw of the event was that people could bring along their CV and potentially secure themselves an interview on the day. The original plan was to conduct these interviews at the event itself, but organisers changed this when numbers reached such a high footfall with over 1,000 CVs submitted in just a few hours. To ensure everyone was spoken to, the CVs were taken in and successful applicants have been invited for interviews with the job vacancies expected to be filled very quickly.
The huge success of this event shows the incredible public interest in roles within the NHS and the appetite for the type of role a Healthcare Support Worker represents. The role being offered at the event came with an attractive salary, with a Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker starting at £22,816 per year.
Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust also offers its staff an incredible array of benefits and rewards. Joining the Trust not only gives people a career that makes a difference, but they also get properly rewarded for the work.
