Filming commences for Jacksons of Yorkshire’s first ever appearance on national TV.

Parts of Hull city centre were closed off today, as Jacksons of Yorkshire’s first TV ad was filmed. A celebration of the business’ significance in the city, the cast includes members of the public and over 50 Jacksons Bakery colleagues, friends and family.
Hull couple, Gaynor and Sean Harkin, were just two of the extras to appear in the ad. Meeting as colleagues at Jacksons in the mid 70’s, they went on to marry and are this year celebrating their golden wedding anniversary. Gaynor commented: “Our love of making Jacksons bread brought us together to give us a love of a lifetime! What better way to celebrate!”
And the local links don’t stop there. One of the original Jacksons Bakery delivery bikes has been refurbished at Cliff Pratt Cycles, especially for the advert.
Jacksons’ first ever advert tells the story of its head baker, passionately travelling the country to spread the word of Jacksons. His rallying cry culminates in a final scene outside Hull City Hall, where gathered crowds celebrate his work.
Helena Wright, Marketing and NPD Director at Jacksons Bakery explains: “Having been a part of this city since 1851, we know how important Jacksons is to the people of Hull. It was imperative to us that we involved local people in the occasion – from the cast and crew to the extras and even the dog! We’re so grateful for everyone’s support and enthusiasm for the project.
“Jacksons of Yorkshire is currently the fastest growing brand in the category known as plant bread, and we’re looking forward to accelerating that growth even further, with the new advert being one of the ways we’ll achieve that growth.”
City Hall Square was taken over today as a closed set for the advert’s shoot, with the entire pedestrianised area used. 40 crew and over 100 cast members and extras made the advert come to life, which will air nationwide from 19th May.
