And what of the other local businesses? Behind the doors of ordinary homes in Pocklington there’s an extraordinary thriving and diverse array of local businesses. Often working from home and shared co working spaces, unknown to many, they often don’t have premises.

These businesses have been coming together to support each other monthly for the last year or more and the group is growing with a committed regular membership.  Now they are launching their first ever Pocklington Business Expo to showcase some of the home grown businesses Pocklington has.

On Saturday 21st November at 10am till 1pm at the Pocklington Arts Centre in the centre of the town in the marketplace a number of businesses will be showcasing their expertise and work to folk in the town. All are Welcome.

Expect the unexpected, come and find out more. All the businesses are local and independent from award-winning pet hotels and dog walkers to personal development coaches, HR experts via technology experts, nail technicians, estate agents and therapists to name but a few!

Helen Holmes, Founder of both Muddy Paws Pet Care, and with her town councillor hat on, said: “We wanted to create an event that celebrates the fantastic businesses we have here in Pocklington and the surrounding area and gives them a chance to connect directly with the local community.

“Whether you are looking for a local service, discovering something new, thinking about starting a business, or simply want to find out more about the businesses on your doorstep we’d love people to come along and meet us.

“Supporting local businesses helps keep our town and surrounding communities vibrant and this event is a great opportunity to meet the people behind those businesses.”

They are expecting visiting support from our local councillors both town and East Riding as they recognise the contribution local businesses make to our town.

Everyone is welcome and entry to the Pocklington Business Expo is free.
