The Run With It educational charity, which helps to raise the levels of literacy and numeracy across Hull and East Yorkshire, has appointed two well-known Yorkshire figures to its Board of Trustees.
Former Yorkshire Post Business Editor and founder of The Business Desk David Parkin joins Stephen Parnaby OBE, former Leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council and now Director of Business Development at Wren Kitchens.
It’s a huge coup for the charity which has seen sustained growth over the last few years with demand for their support seeing an all-time high. With four sites across the region, at Hull’s MKM stadium, Flemingate shopping centre in Beverley, Bridlington Town Football Club and Sewell Group Craven Park in East Hull, it is now in the process of expanding its operations into neighbouring regions.
Shaun Watts, Chair of Trustees for Run With It, said:
“We are thrilled to welcome David Parkin and Steve Parnaby to the Run With It Hull board of trustees.
“David brings an extensive background in the commercial sector, having previously served as Business Editor at The Yorkshire Post, founded The Business Desk and now leading the successful events company, Copa Group. His deep connections across Yorkshire will be invaluable in raising awareness and garnering support for the vital work Run With It is doing.
“Steve Parnaby is a highly respected figure in the region, having served as Leader of East Riding Council for over 20 years, Chair of the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), and as the driving force behind the renowned Business Day at Bridlington Spa. Steve’s vast network and commitment to the region will help strengthen our relationships with both the public sector and the broader business community.
“Their combined expertise and passion will play a crucial role in supporting our mission to transform the lives of young people through education.”
