Last year, Burton Constable Hall & Grounds were one of the first heritage sites in the region to reopen their facilities, recognising that the wide open spaces could be of great benefit to its local community.
Despite the closures in 2020, over 40,000 visitors descended upon the historic visitor attraction and enjoyed an array of activities and events.
The Burton Constable Foundation have continued to work hard behind the scenes during lockdown and have already welcomed over 2,000 visitors back on to their Grounds since mid-April.
Many of the visitors have been taking advantage of the new Little Explorers Trail, the downloadable What Was Here audio app, as well as treats from Stables Kitchen.
For the remainder of this year, the charity hopes for continuity.
“As a charity, we rely heavily on our visitor admissions to help fund and preserve what we have for future generations,” says Director, Susan Hopkinson. We’ve missed some crucial parts of our most popular seasons during this pandemic. Now we just want to be able to remain open and share our spaces with our visitors and local communities, offering that much needed escapism and entertainment.”
In an effort to attract more visitors, a new schedule of events and exhibitions has been created for 2021.
From ambitiously colourful creations such as the Spray the Whale event this month, to the delightful new exhibition: Drink, Dance & Decadence – showcasing the golden era of Burton Constable, as well as the return of Live on the Lawn – a series of spectacular summer shows, there really is something for everyone to enjoy!
