Stunning opera and sensational 60s at Hull Theatres

Next spring will be full of passion, drama, and magical music as Hull Theatres welcome back stunning shows from Opera North and the Sensational 60s Experience.

The award-winning Opera North will deliver brand new productions of two absolute classics at Hull New Theatre – the family favourite The Cunning Little Vixen on 29 and 31 March and one of the world’s most popular operas – Tosca on 30 March and 1 April 2023.

Janáček’s enchanting The Cunning Little Vixen tells the tale of a clever vixen named Sharp Ears, who captured by a local forester later manages to escape his clutches, but he is forever haunted by her memory. The opera celebrates the composer’s love of nature and carefully balances the human and animal worlds in what is often considered one of his greatest works.

The double bill of electrifying productions from Opera North continues with Tosca – a roller coaster story of love, lust, murder, and political intrigue, which accompanied by Puccini’s high-octane score – at times soaring and tender, at other times brutally powerful – has made Tosca one of the world’s most popular operas.

From Tosca to The Trems as the entertainment moves over to Hull City Hall with the return of The Sensational Sixties Experience on 21 April 2023.

This much-loved concert features six legendary names from one of the greatest musical decades of all time: Dozy, Beaky, Mick, & Tich, The Trems (former members of The Tremeloes), The Fortunes, The Swinging Blue Jeans, Vanity Fare and The Dakotas.
