Tech breakfast to focus on tourism sector

Technology and tourism will come together at a networking breakfast which will launch Tech Expo, the centrepiece of next week’s Tech Week Humber global technology festival.

Tech Week Humber at the Bonus Arena last time it was held as a physical event in 2019.

Welcome to Yorkshire is presenting the Tech Expo launch event at the Bonus Arena in Hull at 8am, on Tuesday 9 November.

Taking centre stage will be Demetri Kalli, Director of Partnerships from augmented reality specialists 3rockAR, who are working with the tourism agency on a number of fronts.

The event, which will also give guests the chance of a sneak preview of Tech Expo before the doors open at 10am, is aimed at operators of major tourism attractions and businesses throughout the leisure sector who want to find out how technology can help their businesses.

Natalie McGuire, Head of Commercial at Welcome to Yorkshire, said:We are currently working with 3rockAR to bring to life the cycling offer in the East Riding of Yorkshire, an innovative augmented reality campaign that will immerse the user in the experience and allow us to showcase the region to audiences outside of Yorkshire.

“The wider tech week programme is also important to the tourism and hospitality sector. We are keen to embrace any developments in technology and we are asked regularly to support organisations in hospitality and other sectors to help them grow their business through new channels.

“We are also actively aware of how important Hull has become as a tech hub for Yorkshire and it is important for us to be able to showcase that so we can bring in the best talent.”
