Last month, Bridlington Spa played host to The Business Day, an annual networking event for local businesses to come together and gain insight at the final event of Humber Business Week.
The Business Day is an annual networking event organised by Stephen Parnaby OBE in conjunction with Bridlington Spa, and showcases a wide and diverse range of companies operating within the Hull and East Yorkshire region.
Due to ongoing concerns with the current global pandemic, the event was co-ordinated slightly differently compared to previous years and instead was a three-hour live-streamed show, hosted by Eon Visual Media and presented in-person by Gyles Brandreth. Throughout the day, Gyles was joined by a series of inspirational guest speakers from a diverse range of companies operating within the Hull and East Yorkshire region, including,
- Jas Athwal DL – a self-titled shop keeper from Bradford
- Tina Cerutti – Managing Director, Cerutti 2
- Dominic Gibbons – Managing Director, Wykeland Group
- Andrew Horncastle MBE – Chairman, Horncastle Group plc and Founder, For Entrepreneurs Only
- Sally Iggulden – Chief Executive, Beverley Racecourse
- Thomas Martin DL – Chairman, Arco
- James Mason – Chief Executive, Welcome to Yorkshire
- Tim Rix CBE – Managing Director, J R Rix & Sons
- Diana Taylor – Managing Director, Marketing Humber
- Jo Barnes – Director of Sewell Estates
In addition to the live stream, The Business Day featured a series of short promotional films produced by local visual media agency Eon Visual Media. These short films included interviews with various companies operating within the Hull & East Yorkshire Region including Hull 4 Heroes, JZ Flowers, Bishop Burton College and Associated British Ports (ABP).
To help bring the event to a close, Gyles was joined by Headline speaker Mark Atkinson, who is renowned as East Yorkshire’s own horse master, and has trained and provided horses for many blockbuster TV shows and films including Peaky Blinders.
Despite the change of format compared to previous years, the live stream of The Business Day event continued to be an incredibly insightful and successful event, with over 600 people tuning in online to watch the event unfold.
Following on from the success of the event, Stephen Parnaby OBE, Event Director, stated: “Following the cancellation in 2020 it was important we still had an event for 2021, whilst ensuring the quality and calibre of speakers and content that The Business Day has become known for. This year’s event would not have been possible without the support of the business community, to which I am incredibly grateful.”
In addition to this, Mark Lonsdale, General Manager at Bridlington Spa, added: “I am delighted that we were able to host this event in a COVID secure way, albeit very different from previous years. We have received excellent feedback on the quality of this hybrid event and now look forward to welcoming delegates back for The Business Day 2022 in person.”
As the event drew to a close, Gyles Brandreth announced that The Business Day will return again next year and will take place on the 10th of June 2022 at the Bridlington Spa.
