Colleagues at Yorkshire Building Society’s Hull branch have launched a collection for Hull Women’s Aid by inviting colleagues, members and local people to donate Christmas gifts including toiletry sets, candles, chocolates and sweets, to support local women and children.
All items collected at the branch, located on Paragon Street in Hull, will be donated as part of the upcoming Christmas appeal run by Hull Women’s Aid.
Hull Women’s Aid is a local charity that supports women, children and young people who are experiencing, or have experienced, domestic abuse. It has been helping women in the Hull and East Yorkshire area since 1975. Its Christmas Appeal helps ensure that women and children affected by domestic abuse can receive gifts and support during the festive period. Donations from local individuals, businesses and community groups help bring some comfort and joy to families who may be spending Christmas in refuge accommodation or while rebuilding their lives.
Nikki Clarke, Customer Consultant at Yorkshire Building Society in Hull said: “Christmas should be a time of warmth, hope and togetherness, but for many women and children supported by Hull Women’s Aid, it can be an especially difficult period. Through our collection, we want to show that our community cares. We’re proud to support the incredible work of Hull Women’s Aid and hope these donations help make Christmas a little brighter for the families they support.”

We all know how important Christmas is, especially for children, and these gifts will make a real difference.”
The collection runs until Monday 30th November. Donations can be dropped off during branch opening hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 9am–4:30pm, and Wednesday 9:30am–4.30pm
