A different way to support local charity whilst receiving excellent care for your child

Did you know that Little Owls Nurseries are owned and run by Dove House Hospice and profits go to helping families who need hospice care during some of the most difficult days. By choosing Little Owls you are helping your local community in such a unique way.

As an independent day nursery, Little Owls look after babies, toddlers, and pre-schoolers and support them on their early years journey. They have a dedicated team of highly experienced staff, a purpose built bright and modern facilities including three spacious play areas. Little Owls Nursery is open for children from age 3 months to 5 years.

At Little Owls all children are regarded as individuals, as such they strive to work closely with parents and carers to ensure they know as much about the child as possible. Building a professional relationship helps support a child’s transition into the nursery and supports the child’s self-confidence when making friendships in the setting and throughout the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.

Barry who leant on the hospice when his wife was needing palliative care shares:

“The changes in my wife since she was diagnosed are by far the hardest part for me. I am a very strong person and over the years I have had many curve balls thrown at me but somehow, I have always got through them. But this, this is where I came apart.

“Having Dove House support us with respite care, and just knowing that coming into the hospice was an option, really helped. I knew that in the hard moments, I was not alone.”

Karen whose husband died at Dove House shares:

“From walking in everything about Dove House was calm – you don’t realise how heavy it has been until you get to the hospice. It felt like someone had got off my shoulders. I honestly don’t know what I would have done if the hospice hadn’t been there for us.”

Janice, who accessed hospice care for her dad’s final days shares:

“When it came to the end, we had the privilege to be at the hospice and I am so glad that we were. It was such a dark time for us that we needed someone to help us see the light and I think only Dove House could have done that for us.”

These are just some of the families who have been cared for and supported by Dove House thanks to Little Owls.

Kerry Farquhar, Nursery Manager had this to say: “There’s room in the Little Owls nest and we would love you to come and find out more. Both settings at Chamberlain Road and at Ainthorpe are lovely, warm settings where the children are thriving. Having your child attend Little Owls is not only a fantastic way to support your local hospice but also a wonderful opportunity for you to know that they are being looked after beautifully and their learning, wellbeing, emotional and social needs are being met.”
