Sandro Ford, known for his viral pub stories and appearances on popular comedy podcasts, is bringing his debut UK and Ireland tour to Newland Social, with award-winning Hull comedian Jack Gleadow getting things started.

He’s turned pub stories, bad decisions and getting gout at just 21 into comedy. Now Sandro Ford is heading to Hull. And, of course, it’s above a pub.
The Welsh comedian’s Lager Than Life tour arrives at Newland Social, above Molly Mangan’s on Newland Avenue, on Wednesday, November 4, as part of Hull Comedy Festival.
Ford has built a substantial following on Instagram, where his clips showcase his conversational style and distinctive personality. He also co-hosts the Problematic Pub Podcast and has appeared on Have A Word, Dead Men Talking and Hot Water Green Room.
For anyone who recognises his face from their feed, the Hull date offers a chance to see the comedian behind the clips deliver a full live show in an intimate venue. His material covers growing up, getting older, mates who never change and nights out that get a bit out of hand.
Joining him on the bill is Jack Gleadow, whose energetic mix of physical humour, stories, music and audience participation has taken him well beyond his home city.

A former winner of Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year, Gleadow has supported Jason Manford and Clinton Baptiste and earned a Chortle best newcomer nomination. Hull audiences may also recognise him from last year’s Hull New Theatre pantomime, Beauty and the Beast, in which he appeared alongside Sue Cleaver and Paul Chuckle.
He helped arrange the Newland Social date because he wants Hull audiences to have more touring comedy on their doorstep.
“I’ve always wanted to bring great comedians to Hull, because we’ve got a brilliant audience here who deserve to see the best talent without having to travel to Leeds, Manchester or London,” said Gleadow. “I think Sandro’s got something really special as a performer, and I wanted to bring him to my home city for a proper night of comedy.”
He reckons Ford will be a good match for a crowd that isn’t shy about giving its verdict.
“Hull audiences are great because they’re honest. If they like you, you know about it, and if they don’t, you’ll probably know about that too!” he said. “I think they’ll really take to Sandro because he’s got the personality to connect with a room and make people feel part of the experience.”
His invitation is simple: “Bring your mates, make a night of it and help us give Sandro a proper Hull welcome.”
