Emmaus Hull & East Riding provides a home, training, work opportunities and individual support to people who have experienced homelessness. Throughout 2024, the charity partnership involved Jacksons colleagues volunteering and helping at Emmaus on a monthly basis, fundraising activities, a donation of £5k and donations of items to support the charity’s work.

Jacksons Bakery was established in 1851 and is part of the William Jackson Food Group, a sixth-generation family business. Jacksons Bakery proudly supply to most of the major sandwich makers and foodservice companies in the UK and Europe. Jacksons bread can be found in some of the most popular coffee shops, restaurants, pubs and supermarkets across the country. It is also home to the fastest growing sliced bread brand, Jacksons Of Yorkshire, which is found in all major supermarkets.

Stephanie Dixon, Director of Emmaus Hull & East Riding, said: “We are extremely grateful to Jacksons Bakery and their employees for their continued kind support of Emmaus. Through this ongoing charity partnership, we’re able to benefit in many ways, helping the people we support to move on in their lives after homelessness.”

“Charity partnerships with local businesses and organisations are vital to our success, but are also really beneficial to our partners and their staff teams. We are keen to establish more business partnerships and encourage anyone interested to get in touch and arrange a visit to our residential community in Hull.”

People supported by Emmaus, known to the charity as companions, are offered the opportunity to gain skills, training, confidence, and new experiences. In addition to their residential community in Hull, Emmaus also delivers an outreach service in the East Riding, providing direct support to people who are street homeless.

Emmaus Hull & East Riding is currently collecting items to support their outreach service this winter. The charity is appealing for donations of hats, gloves, scarves, hand warmers and tinned food, tea and coffee to be dropped off at their three charity shop in Hull.
