The grant will help the hospice to revitalise their outdoor space with new furniture and renovate the sensory garden area for use by patients, their families, visitors and staff for many years to come.

Jethro Shearring, Senior Fundraiser at Dove House Hospice, said: “All areas of care at Dove House Hospice go beyond the physical. The support offered gives families the chance to reclaim moments of joy and comfort in the midst of the most challenging times.

“Providing a compassionate, safe environment allows patients to embrace life fully, creating lasting, meaningful memories with their families. These memories, filled with love and light, wouldn’t be possible without the kindness of funders like the Morrisons Foundation.

“The funding so kindly given at this time will make a truly special difference, helping to transform the outside spaces within the hospice gardens, enabling the perfect setting for families to spend precious moments together. On behalf of everyone at Dove House, I would like to say an absolutely huge thank you to all at Morrisons for this incredibly meaningful gift.”

Ellie Anthony, Community Champion at the Morrisons store in Beverley, recommended the hospice as part of the Morrisons Foundation’s ‘Community Spaces Fund’ which was established to celebrate the supermarket’s 125th Anniversary.

The fund invited 125 charities to apply for a share of £1 million with grants of up to £8,000 each to enhance community spaces and local facilities, helping them to make a difference for many more years to come.

Ellie said: “Dove House Hospice is very close to the hearts of colleagues and customers at our store in Beverley.  The work they do to provide care to people coming to the end of their lives is remarkable.  The renovation of the outdoor space will make a huge difference to the hospice.  I’m delighted that they were chosen as part of the Morrisons Foundation 125 Year Community Spaces Fund.”

The Morrisons Foundation was set up by Morrisons supermarket in 2015 and awards grants for charity projects which help improve people’s lives.  Since launching, over £44 million has been donated to hundreds of charities across England, Scotland and Wales.
