Barratt and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East’s Community Fund is an initiative which aims to support the communities in which the housebuilder operates with a different chosen charity each month.

This month’s charity, Humber Rescue, is an essential life-saving service operating in the Humber Estuary. Established in 1990, Humber Rescue has played a crucial role in providing rapid-response search and rescue services to those in distress on the water. The organisation has been an invaluable asset, ensuring the safety and security of individuals navigating the Humber Estuary.

Last year, Humber Rescue responded to a record number of emergency calls, saving numerous lives in the process. The demand for their services has surged, emphasising the vital role they play in the safety and well-being of those traversing the estuary.

As the demands placed on Humber Rescue continue to grow, it becomes increasingly important to secure the necessary resources to sustain their operations. The donation will significantly contribute to the acquisition of essential equipment and supplies required to execute their life-saving missions effectively as well as support in the maintenance of rescue vessels and training for the team of volunteers.

Daniel Smith, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East, paid tribute to Humber Rescue’s dedication and the value they bring to the community. He said, “Humber Rescue performs an exceptional service, often under challenging circumstances.

“Some of our team had the opportunity to visit the team at Humber Rescue and go out on the water in one of the vessels, which really highlighted to us just how critical their service is to the safety on Humber Estuary.

“We are honoured to support them in their life-saving endeavours and hope our contribution can make some difference in the charity continuing their brilliant work.”

Sam Willis, volunteer on the lifeboat crew for Humber Rescue, expressed their gratitude commenting: “On behalf of Humber Rescue, I extend our heartfelt thanks to Barratt and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East for their support. Contributions such as these make a difference in our ability to save lives and provide assistance to those in need. We are immensely grateful for their commitment to our mission.”
