History teacher and Hull local Becky Wickenden purchased her first home at Lovell Homes’ The Sycamores development in Kirk Ella, previously the site of Wolfreton Upper School where Becky attended.
Becky’s new home is located just behind where her old History department was. The building was called Rushanje building, named after Wolfreton’s links to Rushanje School in Uganda.
Becky has lived in Kirk Ella since she was five years old. Despite moving to Newcastle for university, she always wanted to buy her first home in the area as it is close to her family and friends, so her two-bedroom Henbury at The Sycamores was the perfect house and development for her.
“When I first visited my house in the first fix stage, I could visualise the old school site and couldn’t believe how close my house was to the Rushanje building! My house is also very close to the old netball courts. I started playing netball on those courts at the age of 10!”
As Becky previously lived close to the development, she would often visit to see the progression of the site where she once attended school. As soon as the marketing suite was open, she visited the sales office to inquire about buying her new home at The Sycamores. Becky has very fond memories of her time at Wolfreton Upper School:
“I loved my school experience and I always wanted to become a teacher. It wasn’t until I was doing GCSE History that I could see myself teaching History. My GCSE History teacher was amazing and enabled me to have more confidence in the subject. I actually teach with her daughter now!
“My grandfather was also a senior lecturer in History, so I guess it also runs in the family!”
On her house-buying process with Lovell Homes, Becky said: “The house buying process with Lovell was great. I had no major problems and anything that needed to be done was followed up. The communication from the staff was excellent and I was updated all the way through. I’m really happy with my first home!”
Colette Ben Tarcha, Regional Sales Director at Lovell Homes commented: “We are so thrilled Becky found her first home at our development The Sycamores . Not only is it special because she grew up so close to the development, but it’s so significant that as a History teacher, she is living where her old History department was. We are glad Becky had such a positive experience with Lovell, and we really hope she makes many more happy memories on the development.”
