East Yorkshire based author-illustrator and designer Jodie is launching Happy Doodles, a creative new initiative offering art and wellbeing workshops for children and young people navigating emotional or mental health challenges.

Having experienced first-hand the healing power of creativity through her own journey with bipolar disorder, single motherhood, and poverty, Jodie is now determined to bring those tools to others.
“I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed and alone, especially as a child or parent navigating emotional storms,” she says. “Art has always been my safe space and has helped me with many difficult times in my life. With Happy Doodles, I want to pass that gift on, helping children build emotional resilience and confidence through joyful, creative expression.”
Happy Doodles workshops aims to be offered across schools, youth centres, local and private events such as children’s parties, in the school holidays, and community hubs, prioritising inclusion, accessibility, and gentle mental health peer led support through creative art play. The project aims to reach over 500 participants in its first year, and establish strong partnerships with schools, NHS services, business support, the council and youth charities.
To help raise vital start-up funds for art materials, storage, training, insurance and basic setup, a Crowdfunder campaign is now live here: www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/happy-doodles-art-workshops-for-children
Jodie is appealing for both donations and local support, from shares and awareness to partnerships and space collaboration. Finances are her only barrier, and Jodie wants to build a better life for herself and her daughter, helping other children along the way.
Happy Doodles is more than a business, it’s a mission of healing, empowerment, and community through creativity.
